Welcome to the Morning Update
This is the first one, so instead of a market note it's the ground rules. Starting tomorrow, a short update posts here before the open on every trading day.
What it is
A five-minute read that answers four questions in the same order every day:
- Overnight — what futures, Asia, and Europe did, and any headline that actually matters for what I hold or watch.
- Levels I care about — a handful of prices on the index ETFs and watchlist names that would change my mind. Not predictions; lines on a chart I've decided in advance to respect.
- On deck — economic data, earnings, and speakers scheduled for the day, so nothing gaps me by surprise.
- What I'm doing — usually nothing. When there is a plan, it comes with the price where I'm wrong and the size, written before the bell.
What it isn't
- Not advice, not a recommendation, not a trade alert. It's my notebook, in public.
- Not edited after the fact. If I was wrong at 6 a.m., the post stays wrong so I can learn from it on Sunday.
- Not long. If it takes more than ten minutes to write, I cut it.
The colored dot
Each update in the list gets a dot: constructive, neutral or mixed, cautious. It's my read that morning, nothing more. A dot is not a forecast, and it's definitely not a position.
Where the rest lives
The names I'm tracking are on the dashboard with live charts and my notes. The rules I try to follow are under Tips & Secrets. And when the market's closed, I'm probably underwater — that's DocDiver.
Not financial advice. My opinion on the morning it was written. I may hold positions in anything mentioned. Full disclaimer →
